The Regional Prevention Center has just received word that they are the recipient of the 2008 Andrew O’Donovan Regional Prevention Center Award of Excellence.

The RPC was awarded due to its ability to:

  • Demonstrate strong, consistent leadership in the community for the prevention of alcohol, drugs and tobacco,
  • Change prevention in the area,
  • Work with our communities,
  • Execute action plans that have measurable, specific and attainable objectives,
  • Set a clear mission and vision, and
  • Work towards the CSAP strategies of Kansas outcomes.

This award will be presented at a luncheon held in conjunction with the Prevention and Recovery Conference in Salina on September 26th.

In addition, we were informed that one of our coalitions won the Coalition of Excellence Award! jagPRIDE will receive their award at the same luncheon. They are the youth coalition from Mill Valley High School that made their mark locally, regionally and nationally this past year. They are actually presenting their wonderful work at the conference at 10:30 a.m. on Sept 26th.

STOP Underage Drinking was the recipient of this award 2 years ago. We can be quite proud of the fact that our region boasts two “Coalitions of Excellence”!

Should you have any questions about the award process please contact the RPC.
